Maintenance and Protection of Traffic Drawings

SPT has cut over 50,000 miles of shoulder and centerline rumble strips throughout the United States. Ever since rumble strip mills started cutting 15-30 miles of roadway in a single 8-hour day, highway authorities have specified a moving operation lane closure for shoulder rumble strip construction.

For an explanation of why most highway authorities use a moving operation lane closure for shoulder rumble strip construction, click here.

Below are a variety of maintenance and protection of traffic drawings for shoulder and centerline rumble strip construction:

Surface Preparation Technologies, Inc. has safely used the previous traffic control plans and others to construct rumble strips on various U.S. roadways. Although these plans are based on M.U.T.C.D. standards they are only being provided as examples. The use of these plans or any portion thereof must be reviewed and approved for use by local traffic engineers.
